About the role

As Finance Manager, you will be Niantic Spatial's dedicated FP&A function - the primary owner of the company's planning and reporting cadence, working in close partnership with the Head of Finance. You'll partner with leaders across Product, Engineering, GTM, People, Operations, Legal, and Accounting to turn financial data into clear decisions while building structure where processes are still evolving. This is a role for a seasoned finance professional who wants real ownership: the models, the process, the operating rhythm, and the relationships across the business are yours to run and improve.

Responsibilities

  • Budgeting & Forecasting - Build and maintain annual, quarterly, and rolling forecasts; own bottoms-up and top-down planning models covering headcount, operating expenses, cash burn, runway, and revenue; build planning calendars backward from close, forecast, and Board milestones.
  • Reporting & Insights - Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packs, dashboards, and management reports; create budget-versus-actual, variance, bridge, and scenario analyses; build and maintain department, product, entity, and consolidated P&Ls; go beyond the numbers to deliver insights that explain what changed, why it matters, and what leadership should do about it.
  • Board & Executive Materials - Drive the preparation of Board and leadership materials on a defined timeline - coordinating inputs, drafting exhibits, and ensuring materials are complete and decision-useful - in partnership with the Head of Finance.
  • Close Support - Own the FP&A side of the monthly close, including budget-versus-actual review, variance commentary, and follow-up on forecast-to-actual gaps; partner with Accounting and external providers on management, statutory, and GAAP reporting needs.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership - Run planning meetings and review sessions with clear agendas, timelines, and accountability; translate financial implications for non-finance stakeholders; collaborate with Product Managers and the GTM team on sales proposal costing and pricing decisions; handle ad hoc analyses and special projects for leadership.
  • Process & Systems Improvement - Lead the day-to-day FP&A operating cadence; maintain and improve the planning system and reporting workflows; help the company move from manual, spreadsheet-heavy processes toward more scalable planning and reporting.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in FP&A, corporate finance, investment banking, consulting, or a related finance role, ideally in a high-growth startup or lean finance team; Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep financial modeling and analytical skills, with strong financial statement fluency and advanced Excel and Google Sheets ability - able to turn analysis into clear insights and recommendations, not just outputs.
  • Proven ability to independently own end-to-end planning and reporting: annual plans, quarterly re-forecasts, budget-versus-actual reviews, and monthly close support.
  • Track record of building auditable, formula-driven models with clear structure, documented assumptions, and built-in checks.
  • Experience preparing Board- and executive-ready materials on a recurring schedule, with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Tech-forward and actively using AI tools to accelerate modeling, automate analysis, and improve finance deliverables - with the judgment to know where AI helps and where human judgment is essential.
  • Strong communicator who can run planning meetings, manage timelines, hold stakeholders accountable, and explain finance clearly to non-finance teams.
  • Self-directed and calm under pressure; builds structure in ambiguous environments and keeps work moving without heavy oversight.
  • Experience with FP&A planning systems such as Abacum, Adaptive, or Anaplan.
  • Familiarity with NetSuite.
  • Working knowledge of cloud hosting cost structures (GCP, AWS, Azure) and experience forecasting infrastructure spend.
  • Compensation & Benefits
  • The expected salary range for this role is $157,500 -$210,000 per year. Compensation also includes an annual bonus, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and visio
