ROLE SUMMARY: The Chemical Process and Analytical Development (CPAD) department at our Bothell, Washington site is seeking a Senior Scientist to discover and develop robust and innovative synthetic routes to novel Drug-Linkers to drive the next generation of targeted cancer therapy. As a Senior Scientist, you will be at the center of our operations and find that everything we do is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. You will be part of a group that is comprised of experts in Process Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Analytical Chemistry who work together to develop robust processes towards ADC Drug-Linkers and small molecule intermediates. You will play a vital role as a key contributor in multi-disciplinary matrix teams from molecule nomination through the development of commercial manufacturing processes. You will provide key contributions to the implementation of process chemistry strategies through the development and execution of innovative synthetic chemistry. With your deep knowledge of Organic Chemistry, you will use your scientific judgment to adapt methods and techniques to make decisions that influence projects. You will be recognized as a technical expert and a key scientific contributor.
Responsibilities
- Independently design and execute well-planned laboratory experiments that require complex data analysis.
- Maintain high standards for all laboratory records, reports, patents, regulatory documents, and external communications.
- Employ state-of-the art technologies including high-throughput experimentation, data-rich experimentation, computational tools, and predictive software to accelerate process development.
- Persuasively communicate abstract concepts, ideas, and solutions to technical teams and chemistry leadership.
- Develop safe, scalable routes and processes on tight timelines aligned with Pfizer's portfolio goals.
- Author and review manuscripts, technical documents, patents, production reports and technology transfer reports.
- Promote a supportive and inclusive work environment.
- Follow all Pfizer safety training and laboratory research guidelines to achieve compliance with all regulations.
Requirements
- PhD in Organic Chemistry with 0+ years of industrial experience or a Bachelors degree and 9+ years of experience or a Master's degree and 7+ years of experience.
- A sound understanding of modern synthetic organic chemistry principles and purification technologies.
- Proven track record of scientific innovation and impact, demonstrated through authorship of peer-reviewed publications, patents, or presentations at recognized scientific conferences.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
