About the role
Dexis is seeking up to two Senior Programmers to provide the J8-S with high quality, defendable programming and technical support. The Senior Programmer works as an interface between the programmers and the subject matter experts to ensure that models developed fully and accurately translate and represent the special operations capabilities. They will be responsible for day to day management of programming efforts and ensure new hardware requirements, IT maintenance requirements, and software upgrades are articulated to the Task Lead. The Senior Programmer will assist the task lead in developing work plans for programmers, database administrator, and network manager, and will keep the Task Lead appraised of information technology resources necessary to complete tasks in accordance with scheduled milestones and budgetary constraints. They will perform quality checks of all programming products and interact continually with the Task Lead to discuss concerns, and ensure total product/service satisfaction. The mission of the USSOCOM J8-S is to provide senior leadership independent analysis and studies involving current and future Special Operations Force (SOF) requirements, inform J8 decisions in development of the USSOCOM Program Objective Memorandum (POM), and inform and collaborate with Office of the Secretary of War (OSW) in developing various analytic products and guidance. Additionally, the division plays a key role providing reliable analytic tools and products enabling the Command's senior leaders to make informed and defendable resourcing decisions. Additionally, the J8-S provides a wide range of analytic support to the headquarters; the analytic support provided by the J8-S team has wide reaching impact on component commands, Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), the Joint Staff (JS), and OSW. This full-time position is located in the Tampa area and is required to be on-site full time, subject to change if requirements shift. This position is contingent upon contract award.
Responsibilities
- Provide Senior-level programmers the requisite skills to accomplish programming and development tasks to support the J8.
- Perform duties as Baseline and Privileged Use Certified Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II in accordance with DoW 8570.01-M, DOW Instruction 8140.01, USSOCOM Manual 380-3, and the SIE OPORD.
- Oversee development of software coded solutions, to include: modeling and simulations, spreadsheets, data entry, web, geographic information systems (GIS) and database efforts to support requests for data.
- Provide technical expertise with regards to hardware requirements and software modeling/coding efforts
- Complete software programming, bug fixes, and integration activities
- Primary developer/integrator for JMA models (SCRAAM, and SOFAMS) and tools (including Leveler/Grapher, Reporter, Date Movement Tool, Scenario Grouper, Resource Set Shaper, Scenario Disengagement Tool, and the Scenario Pass and Priority Tool).
- Oversee coding and integration of contractor developed new software models and tools.
- Oversee and assemble model documentation.
- Liaison with the Database Administrator, and Network Systems Engineer for software design, database design, hardware configurations and communication requirements.
- Maintain software and data on the system including SOFAMS and associated databases, SCRAAM, the Special Operations Forces Ammunition Requirement Model (SOFARM), SOF Logistics Model, and other analytic products.
- Support the Development Network through continuous software development to include testing and refinement of models and tools.
- Modify/develop/train on the use of software to meet USSOCOM modeling software requirements as required.
- Install, test and maintain software upgrades when provided and/or directed by the Government, to include periodic version upgrades to correct problems, improve efficiency and usability, and/or provide greater capability.
