- In coordination with the Medical Radiography Program Director, serve as the classroom clinical instructor / preceptor / supervisor for students.
- In cooperation and consultation with the Medical Radiography Program Director, follow the program curriculum plan, develop, implement the daily, weekly and semester classes and clinical rotation schedules for students.
- Following the Program's established clinical curriculum, perform appropriate evaluation and clinical competency performance assessments on assigned students and assure adequate availability of appropriate clinical cases for students to achieve stated clinical goals and objectives.
- Organize and implement department policy / procedure orientation sessions for assigned students and appropriate Program faculty.
- Provide input on the progress of all assigned students toward achievement of their class or clinical performance goals and objectives and assist in filling out student evaluations online.
- Oversee assigned students' maintenance of their clinical activity log sheets and provide clinical activity summary data.
- Provide input on issues which may be useful in enhancing the student's educational experience in class or at their site -and/or- in facilitating student success. Act as liaison between the Imaging Department and the Medical Radiography Program.
- Provide academic advice for matriculating and prospective program students.
- Coordinate and manage the in-service program for students and staff.
- Under the direction of the Director, acts as trainer and mentor for all new hires in the department.
- Perform radiologic procedures on patients as assigned according to policy and radiological standards.
- Verify patient and procedure to be performed.
- Provide clear and accurate instructions to patients.
- Verify and perform correct imaging protocol, step, procedures, and scanner parameters for each patient.
- Ensure patient and staff safety for equipment used.
- Participate in ongoing education and training.
- Perform quality control on equipment and devices as required.
- Communicate with other staff/departments to coordinate care of patients.
- Maintain supply stock and request stock to be ordered when necessary.
- Keep all work areas clean and functional according to DPH and The Joint Commission.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to transport patients (including aggressive ones) from wheelchair or patient slide board to table.
- Ability to move portable x-ray machine to examination site.
- Occasionally sitting, frequently standing, walking, and lifting 30-35 lbs.
- Ability to wear protective lead
