We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our Windom, MN team. This role will provide leadership of the team responsible for development and continuous improvement of the manufacturing systems, processes and methods to ensure consistent improvements in the productivity levels. Responsible for Assembly, Paint and Welding processes, tools, methods, and the related improvement in quality and productivity in a manufacturing environment. What Will You Do? SUPERVISION Lead and manage a team of Manufacturing Engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, productivity and safety. Responsible for housekeeping, productivity, manpower levels and work habit discipline. MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING: Manages and directs the Manufacturing Engineering function in the Windom facility, to ensure Assembly, Paint and Welding processes are completed according to company safety and quality specifications in an efficient and timely manner. Strongly advocates operational safety and Lean concepts of continuous improvement, waste reduction, measurements, and goal setting. Directs team to establish methods and maintain engineered time standards for all direct and indirect support labor operations. Reviews all new product projects and coordinates a smooth and efficient start up. Collaborates with internal partners, peers within site and across sites, New Product Development Teams, and other functional leaders Recommend changes in design to improve safety, quality or productivity. Provide feedback to production scheduling and operations personnel in order to maintain a relatively stable work force and attain the desired level of production, efficiency and quality. Coordinates corrective action through daily tiered meetings and production notes, suggesting design changes to improve processes. Seeks out advance technology, automation, etc. as they apply to manufacturing systems and methods and lead the facility in their implementation. QUALITY MANAGEMENT Responsible to assist in the implementation of quality plans designed to prevent defects in finished products. Ensures proper and timely communications with Materials and Assembly Operations to maintain quality standards. Ensures manufacturing engineers follow quality procedures and coordinates improvements with Quality department personnel. Assists in the implementation of ISO or quality plans within the facility. FINANCIAL AND BUDGET CONTROL Collaborates with site Finance to set annual and strategic capital budgets and assures execution of capital spending in accordance with those budgets. Approves engineering purchase orders to assure spending is aligned with approved budget guidelines. Coordinates plant productivity improvement goals; identifies and leads implementation of cost reductions and value analysis. SAFETY AND ERGONOMICS Ensure all Employees are trained in Safety Rules and procedures and support and consistently enforce safety policies. Participate in Safety Inspections and support Plant Safety activities in partnership with the EHS Manager. Establish Safety compliance strategies and accountability for team. Actively participate in review of accident investigations and responsible for design and implementation of employee ergonomics in workstation setup, processes tooling, and safety equipment. Ensures a regiment of ergonomic audits during startups and during production are completed. Maintain facility safety documentation, equipment or workstation process modifications. What Do You Need? Degree in Engineering with a minimum of eight+ years of experience in a manufacturing of consumer goods environment of which two years must include managerial responsibilities A minimum of 5+ years department level supervisory experience expected Budget planning experience, organizational and planning skills, communication skills and ability to adapt to work environment and customer needs Previous experience with any of the following: welding, powder coat painting, or progressive assembly processes Experience with team building, project oversight, and developing quality procedures Demon
