About the role
At Antares, our long-term mission is to make clean energy abundant from Earth to the Asteroid Belt. We're fueled by the belief that advanced nuclear energy can strengthen our military, solve the climate crisis, elevate global living standards, and expand humanity's presence in outer space. To achieve our mission, we're building mass-producible, inherently safe, deployable microreactors that can be used terrestrially, underwater, and in space. Formed in 2023, the Antares team hails from SpaceX, The White House, MIT, Rigetti Computing, The Air Force, General Atomics, Relativity Space, Ursa Major, and National Laboratories like Los Alamos, Idaho, and Oak Ridge. Antares has raised over $130M in venture capital from top-tier investors and has over $13M in government funding. The Reactor Deployments team is responsible for delivering Antares systems from factory to field. We operate at the intersection of engineering, construction, and operations-ensuring each deployment site is designed, built, and commissioned to the highest standards. This team partners closely with design engineering, manufacturing, regulatory, and external stakeholders to bring first-of-a-kind energy infrastructure online. Roles and Responsibilities: As Director of Construction at Antares, you will lead the planning and execution of all site development and construction activities for reactor deployments. You will own the end-to-end construction strategy-from early site design input through field execution. You will serve as the critical bridge between engineering and the field, ensuring designs are constructible and projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and at high quality. You will be responsible for driving cost efficiency and ensuring timely project completion to meet Antares' aggressive deployment timelines. You will also build and lead the construction function, managing contractors, developing processes, and scaling Antares' deployment capabilities. Own construction strategy and execution for all reactor deployment sites Drive projects to completion on aggressive timelines while maintaining safety and quality standards Minimize cost and schedule through strong planning, contractor management, and execution discipline Partner with design engineering to ensure site requirements, constructability, and field constraints are incorporated early Establish construction standards, processes, and best practices across deployments Enable flexible deployments to meet customer needs including above grade and below grade construction Lead budgeting, scheduling, and cost control across multiple concurrent projects Oversee civil, EPC, and construction subcontractors, holding them accountable to performance, cost, and schedule Build and manage relationships with site owners, utilities, and local stakeholders Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements Identify and resolve construction risks and execution challenges in real time Support permitting, site selection, and pre-construction development efforts Build and scale a high-performing internal construction and field operations team
