Responsibilities
- Benefit Administration
- Facilitate incoming benefit plan calls and emails by providing excellent customer service (responding to queries, providing information, problem solving, guidance on filling out paperwork)
- Maintain records of group insurance benefits in relevant system databases
- Receive and process applications for enrollments, change in benefits, coverage for over-age dependents/disabled dependents
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with insurance providers

- Disability Administration
- Facilitate incoming disability (STD, LTD) calls and emails by providing excellent customer service (responding to queries, providing information, problem solving, guidance on filling out paperwork)
- Proactive management of disability claims including situations of a complex nature.
- Communicates with claimants and external partners regarding case adjudication and return to work planning
- Maintains effective working relationships with providers of short term and long-term disability products and services related to effective disability case management
- Review of internal processes and policies with a view to continuous improvement
- Qualifications & Experience
- Bilingual (written and spoken): English and French are required
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma, preference will be given to individuals that have a degree or certification in benefits (ie. Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS)
- Knowledge of group benefits principles and experience with group benefits administration, minimum of 3 years, ideally in a large organization
- Experience with the administration of group short term disability and long-term disability administration.
- Experience in interpreting benefit plans and documents
- Professionalism and confidentiality
- Initiative to manage multiple demands under pressure in a fast paced, multi-faceted environment
- Superior customer service experience
- Strong communication skills/telephone skills and experience including the ability to effectively manage conflicting or aggressive situations
- Time management / ability to meet time sensitive deadlines
- Must be proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Workday experience would be considered an asset
- Basic mathematical skills and the aptitude to work with numbers to produce accurate calculations
