About the role

We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our Advanced Networking Team to serve as an expert escalation point for client network environments, delivering high quality, professional, and customer-focused networking assistance across multiple channels. This role is responsible for advanced networking configurations and issue resolutions within a variety of MSP client environments, and plays a critical part in building and maintaining client networking infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings advanced networking knowledge and technical skills, excellent stakeholder communication skills, and a customer-first mindset. Role & Responsibilities Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues involving firewalls, switches, wireless access points, VLANs, routing, VPNs, and general connectivity. Support and maintain firewall environments, including rule changes, VPN configuration, firmware updates, and security reviews. Configure and support managed switches, including VLANs, trunking, port assignments, PoE, and firmware maintenance. Support wireless networks, including SSID configuration, access point updates, coverage reviews, and performance troubleshooting. Monitor client networks and respond to alerts related to device availability, performance, and connectivity. Assist with network project work, including firewall replacements, switch upgrades, wireless deployments, and network refresh initiatives. Perform network assessments to identify end-of-life, end-of-support, unsupported, or misconfigured network equipment. Create and maintain accurate network documentation, including topology diagrams, device inventories, IP addressing, VLANs, and configuration notes. Coordinate with vendors for support cases, RMAs, licensing, and troubleshooting when needed. Follow established change management, documentation, and security processes. Work escalated network tickets from the service desk, NOC, or client-facing teams.

Requirements

  • Experience working in an MSP or multi-client environment.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools such as Auvik, Meraki Dashboard, SonicWall NSM, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting vendors such as SonicWall, Meraki, Cisco, Ubiquiti, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Extreme, or similar platforms.
  • Experience performing firewall reviews, switch audits, wireless assessments, and firmware upgrade planning.
  • Certifications such as Network+, CCNA, Meraki ECMS, SonicWall SNSA, Fortinet NSE, or other network-focused certifications preferred.
  • Experience assisting with network documentation standards, topology diagrams, and client environment reviews.

  • Ability to clearly explain network issues, risks, and recommendations.
  • Strong attention to detail when documenting configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps.

  • Firewalls: rule management, NAT, VPNs, firmware updates, access control, and basic security hardening.
  • Switching: VLANs, trunking, access ports, PoE, spanning tree, port security, and switch firmware maintenance.
  • Wireless: SSIDs, access point placement, channel planning, signal coverage, firmware updates, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Routing: static routes, basic dynamic routing concepts, gateway configuration, and network segmentation.
  • VPN: site-to-site VPNs, client VPNs, authentication methods, and tunnel troubleshooting.
  • Core networking: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, ARP, ICMP, subnetting, and network troubleshooting.
  • Monitoring: network alerting, uptime monitoring, performance monitoring, and device health review.
