About the role
This role is directed towards cardiologists who are in the first few years of practice after completion of their FRACP (or equivalent), who have a keen interest in expanding their skills primarily in echocardiography (transthoracic, stress and transesophageal echo, including structural intervention imaging). There is some exposure to cardiac MRI and CT coronary angiography available as well. This is a position with close, consistent supervision from a group of dedicated cardiac imaging specialists with a breadth of experience across public hospital work, in research and in private practice. As the Cardiac Imaging Fellow, you will provide the day to day clinical care and management of patients undergoing transthoracic, transesophageal and stress echocardiography as inpatients or outpatients. You will participate in performance and reporting of cardiac MRI scans, with the opportunity to support and report cardiac CT scans. You will also undertake teaching and research duties within the Cardiac Investigation Unit and the St Vincent's Heart Centre. In addition, responsibilities include involvement with and management of cardiac patients at St Vincent's Hospital, attendance at Cardiology Outpatient clinics, teaching of junior staff, technical staff and colleagues, and participation in the research program in echocardiography with interests in myocardial function, exercise, heart failure and pulmonary hypertension.
