GS-11: To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: Specialized Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience. Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal Service obtained in either the private or public sector. Specialized Experience is defined as experience performing the following types of duties: Operating litigation support hardware or software (i.e. Everlaw, OnCue, etc.) and performing a variety of routine/non-routine automated support necessary to prepare, organize, index, develop, and manage exhibits, evidence, and data relevant to cases presented before a jury, grand jury or in other legal proceedings, cataloging, organizing, and reviewing and discovery; assisting attorneys, and coordinating with other offices or agencies to complete discovery and with trial preparation and presentation, to include items such as subpoenas, trial exhibits, information requests, pleadings, and correspondence; preparation of trial presentations including a wide range of information system analysis; development, and installation in support of litigation support activities for assigned cases; assisting and/or training attorneys and legal support staff in organizing voluminous case information; and preparing computerized trial presentation programs. Any programming experience is considered an asset. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree (e.g., Information Technology, Law, Criminal Justice); OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., Information Technology, Law, Criminal Justice. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. In order to qualify based on a combination, graduate education must be in excess of 2 full years. GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as working in a legal environment providing technical advice to litigation teams on legal automation requirements and system capabilities; organizing and managing voluminous case information for efficient retrieval through scanning, indexing and controlling documents into a database; analyzing litigation support requirements to develop or recommend appropriate strategies to meet litigation needs; recommending software applications to effectively present complex evidence; and diagnosing and resolving litigation support computer system problems. Any programming experience is considered an asset.
