About the role

Our ELD Teachers will play a critical role in advancing Multilingual learners' (MLLs) knowledge and use of English in increasingly sophisticated ways, especially focused on the successful use of academic language necessary to accelerate their learning. The primary service delivery model for English Language Development instruction at DSST is a co-taught model . Depending on campus, the ELD instructional model may differ: Middle School: All middle school ELD teachers co-teach in Science classrooms , partnering closely with a Science teacher to plan and deliver integrated, language-rich lessons using the OpenSciEd curriculum . ELD instruction focuses on helping students use language to make sense of scientific phenomena, build academic vocabulary, and confidently communicate their ideas. Some ELD teachers may also teach a small-group, dedicated ELD class (10-15 students) differentiated by English language proficiency, using provided curriculum materials such as the National Geographic ELD program. High School: High school ELD teachers typically co-teach in core academic subjects , such as English/Composition or other content areas, integrating language development into grade-level coursework. Depending on campus needs, ELD teachers may also teach a pull-out or dedicated ELD class for students at emerging or early-intermediate proficiency levels. All instruction emphasizes language as a tool for accessing rigorous content, fostering critical thinking, and preparing students for postsecondary success. At DSST Public Schools , we are proud to achieve transformational results for our 7,500+ students - 97% of whom attend a Green (top-rated) school. Just as important is how we achieve them: values-centered, human-focused, and together. We invite educators and leaders who share our belief that there is more in us - more brilliance,
