About the role
The Principal Product Legal Counsel will play a crucial role in the legal review and guidance of new and existing products, services, and features. Responsibilities
- Product and Feature Review: Conduct legal assessments of new products, services, and features, providing actionable advice to mitigate risks and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Policy Development and Maintenance: Update and maintain the company's Terms of Use, privacy policies, and other legal documents to align with evolving laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, marketing teams, and other sta keholders to understand product visions and offer legal insights from the concept phase through deployment.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and analyze changes in applicable e-commerce and technology laws and regulations, advising the Product teams on compliance strategies.
- Intellectual Property: Provide guidance on intellectual property matters, including copyright and trademark issues related to product development.
- Data Privacy and Security: Advise on data privacy and security laws, ensuring the company's products and practices meet global data protection standards.
- General Legal Support: Offer general legal support related to product development, including drafting and negotiating agreements with partners and vendors when necessary.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- A minimum of 8+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably in the technology or e-commerce sectors.
- Strong working knowledge of e-commerce law, AI, digital privacy laws, and technology-related regulations.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.
