Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) utilizing DoD and SOUTHCOM strategy, policy, and plans in future operations, to include Counterdrug (CD), Counter Narco-Terrorism (CNT), and Countering Transnational Organized Crime (CTOC) support and Theater Security Cooperation (TSC) engagement; 2) applying knowledge of CD program objectives, policies, operations, and resource requirements to develop and evaluate operational plans; 3) planning and developing exercise objectives and operations to ensure overall support of USSOUTHCOM missions with respect to crisis management preparedness, response, and recovery; 4) applying advanced skills and techniques to identify, define, and perform detailed analysis on complex issues, situations, and problems in order to develop practical plans, policies, tactics, techniques, and procedures; and 5) demonstrating an in-depth understanding of issues and documents relating to Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA), Joint Doctrine concerning future operations (to include CD/CNT support), AT/FP and combat support, Task Force operations relating to terrorist incidents and natural disasters, DoD strategy, and the processes by which other primary agencies execute requests for assistance from DoD and how that support is delivered. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
