About the role

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for servicing and repairing the specialized mechanical, electrical, and climate-control systems in CMI's customer's agricultural greenhouse located in Beltsville, MD. Key Job Functions Inspect, repair, and calibrate automated environmental controls (heating, cooling, ventilation, humidity, and CO₂ scrubbers) to maintain precise growing conditions. Diagnose and fix malfunctions in commercial watering systems, injectors, pumps, and water filtration equipment. Perform preventative maintenance on boilers, backup generators, heavy machinery (like tractors and forklifts), and motorized transport carts. Respond quickly to emergency equipment breakdowns, identify the root cause of mechanical or electrical failures, and execute repairs safely. Log all maintenance and repair activities, manage spare parts inventory, and order replacement components. Adhere to strict OSHA and facility safety guidelines, including hazardous material handling and equipment lockout/tagout procedures. Performs other maintenance mechanic related duties as required High School Diploma or Equivalent At least 3 years of hands-on mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance experience (greenhouse or agricultural operations preferred) Must be skilled in general maintenance tasks related to building utilities and other facility utility systems Strong working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, plumbing, 3-phase electricity, and automated control software. Ability to work in environments with extreme temperatures, stand for long periods, and comfortably lift up to 50 lbs.
