Job Description Job Duties Provide patient care as directed within the medical direction model, including obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, ordering medications, and administering drugs Assess, diagnose, and treat medical or surgical conditions; document findings accurately Perform, order, assist with, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, and wound care Educate and counsel patients regarding health, disease management, and treatment plans Respond to emergency medical situations and initiate appropriate interventions Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to coordinate patient care Assist with ordering medications, maintaining records, and ensuring proper equipment function Follow Mercy safety policies and report unsafe conditions or incidents Department-Specific Duties (Medical Direction Model) Administer anesthesia under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist Perform pre-anesthesia evaluations and develop anesthesia care plans in collaboration with the anesthesiologist Provide intra-procedural anesthesia management and monitoring Participate in post-anesthesia care and patient recovery Communicate effectively with the anesthesia care team to ensure compliance with medical direction requirements Document all anesthesia care accurately in the EMR Adhere to regulatory, hospital, and anesthesia department policies Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent written and verbal communication skills required Professional Experience 1-3 years of experience preferred Education Education sufficient to meet licensure requirements Licensure, Certification, Registration Active license to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the state of Iowa required Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse and Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required prior to start or transfer date ACLS required within 6 months of start date Pay Rate Type Salary Mercy is an independent, community-based organization supporting the Cedar Rapids area for over 120 years.
