About the role

Are you a natural communicator with a passion for creating life-changing opportunities? We have an exciting opportunity for an engaging, highly organised Community Engagement Officer to join our Alumni Relations team. If you are a bridge-builder who thrives on connecting people and believes in the power of community, we want to hear from you. The Role: You will be the central link between our global community of 300,000 former students and the heart of the University. Your mission is to create meaningful ways for alumni to give back their time, expertise, and influence to support our most ambitious goals. As a specialist in volunteer engagement, you will: Champion Alumni Participation: Drive the recruitment and engagement of alumni for flagship university-wide mentoring and networking programmes, working in close collaboration with the Careers and Employability Service to ensure a high-quality volunteer pipeline. Drive Strategic Recruitment: Partner with colleagues in Marketing and Recruitment to source authentic alumni voices that inspire and convert prospective students through panels and storytelling. Steward Future Supporters: Identify and nurture relationships with high-value volunteers, ensuring they are well-supported and recognised as part of a pipeline of advocates for the University's long-term goals. Consult and Improve: Actively contribute to our volunteer engagement strategy, using data and feedback to advise internal partners on how to optimise the volunteer experience. Who You Are: You don't need to come from a University background; we value transferable expertise from the charity, private, or public sectors. You will be: An experienced relationship manager with a track record in volunteer coordination, client relations, or community engagement. A skilled project leader who can juggle multiple deadlines with a proactive, problem-solving mindset. An excellent communicator capable of crafting engaging content for diverse audiences across digital platforms. Tech-savvy and comfortable using CRM databases (such as Raiser's Edge) and video conferencing tools to manage global networks. £32,080 to £36,636 per annum
