About the role

The position is under the Pathway Program as a student developmental position located in Diagnostic Medicine. Diagnostic Medicine provides diagnostic testing and professional consultation to BVAMC's Medical, Surgical, Open Heart, Neurology, Blind Rehabilitation, Primary Care Clinics, Community Based Outpatient Clinics, Community Services Program, and Research Programs. Results are utilized by physicians in conjunction with a pertinent clinical history and physical examination. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/01/2026. Internship Program: To be eligible, applicants must be accepted for enrollment or currently enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution, on a full or half-time basis as defined by the institution in which you are enrolled. You may qualify based on education and/or experience as described below: Education: To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have completed the first year of a two year program in diagnostic radiology technology in a program recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Physical Requirements: Heavy lifting (45 lbs and over); heavy carrying (45 lbs and over); straight pulling (up to 1 hour); pushing (1-2 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required; walking (up to 3 hours); standing (up to 3 hours); repeated bending (up to 1 hour); ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; near vision correctable at 13'' to 16'', hearing (aid permitted).
