About the role

Anduril's Space Planning team is seeking an Industrial Space Planner to join the team. The Space Planning team is responsible for optimizing layouts and designs for R&D facilities, ensuring efficient workflows, and minimizing wasted space, all while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. As an Industrial Space Planner , you will conduct site assessments and develop detailed space plans collaborating with various stakeholders across the business. The right candidate has a history of managing multiple projects providing creative solutions that will optimize efficiency. We are seeking a highly analytical and collaborative Industrial Space Planner to design, optimize, and scale our physical footprint. In this role, you will bridge the gap between engineering requirements and physical facility solutions across manufacturing and highly dynamic R&D/prototyping environments. You will partner directly with Division Leads to understand and forecast their business unit space needs, and collaborate closely with Industrial Engineers (IEs) to design and validate optimized layouts. Unlike traditional facilities roles, you will not simply document space requests; you will critically analyze, challenge, and validate them. You will ensure our manufacturing, R&D laboratories, and production environments are optimized for efficiency, safety, flexibility, and scalability.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with key stakeholders to capture and forecast team space demands, and collaborate side-by-side with Industrial Engineers (IEs) on proposed space layouts.
  • Evaluate incoming space requests and prioritize high-impact needs; critically challenge and validate requests against utilization metrics rather than simply executing them.
  • Build capacity models, evaluate production/laboratory constraints, and develop future-state growth scenarios to support manufacturing ramp and R&D pipeline growth.
  • Create facility master plans, block plans, and equipment layouts/test fits for warehouse, lab, and production spaces using AutoCAD and other planning tools.
  • Build capacity models, evaluate production/laboratory constraints, and develop future-state growth scenarios to support manufacturing ramp and R&D pipeline growth.
  • Partner with Facilities to assess, plan, and validate infrastructure requirements including power loads, HVAC, compressed air, process exhaust, networking, and EHS clearances.
  • Analyze production/R&D workflows, material flow, lean principles, and physical adjacencies to optimize layout designs and eliminate operational bottlenecks.
  • Maintain accurate spatial data and coordinate space planning decisions across Southern California facilities. Collaborate with the Moves, Adds, and Change (MAC) team for seamless implementation, relocation strategies, and change tracking.
  • Maintain accurate information and coordinate space planning decisions within Southern California facilities
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience in industrial, manufacturing, supply chain or production environment
  • Proficiency in CAD software, ArcGIS, Archibus, Power BI, JIRA and/or similar space planning software
  • Experience with lean, six sigma, and other related production principles
  • Strong understanding of spatial layout principles, workflow optimization, and infrastructure coordination
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and prioritize effectively under pressure
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities Planning, Operations Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical discipline.
  • Direct experience with factory planning, lab/facility master planning, or R&D system design.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, high-tech manufacturing, robotics, or advanced hardware R&D environments.
  • Deep familiarity with utility planning, EHS requirements, and equipment installation/rigging processes.
  • US Salary Range
  • $99,000 - $130,000 USD
  • The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, e
