About the Position: This position is part of the Reemployed Annuitants Cadre, in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). On an as-needed basis, employees occupying these positions provide emergency support to disaster-stricken areas throughout the United States. This is a temporary appointment not to exceed 1-year. At management's discretion, the appointment may be extended for up to a maximum of 3-years or converted to a term appointment for up to a maximum of 6-years. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Powered Support Systems Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Perform common work of the position including conducting routine maintenance and inspections; assisting with troubleshooting and repairs of generators and electrical systems; replacing standard components; using common testing equipment; and following established procedures and technical instructions. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Engineering and Technology Knowledge of Electrical Equipment Problem Solving Trouble shooting (electrical) Physical Effort: Position requires frequent bending, reaching, crouching, standing, and repetitive arm movement. Duties may be performed in confined spaces or awkward positions. Employees regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds and may move heavier materials with assistance from lifting devices, equipment, or coworkers. Working Conditions: Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings. Employees may be exposed to varying temperatures, drafts, loud noise, inclement weather conditions, rain, snow, and wet or icy surfaces. Duties may involve exposure to dust, heat, fumes, and uneven or damp working surfaces.
