As part of the Patient Experience Billing Pod, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients with questions related to billing, insurance, appointments, and general account support. Your role is to provide compassionate, accurate, and timely assistance while helping patients understand their options and next steps. You will work closely with other customer experience agents, billing specialists, and internal teams to ensure patients receive a seamless experience and feel supported throughout their care journey at Allara. The ideal candidate is an empathetic communicator, strong problem solver, and detail-oriented team player who thrives in a fast-paced remote environment. Key Responsibilities Provide empathetic, patient-centered support through communication software Serve as a trusted resource for patients seeking assistance with their care journey. Answer routine billing questions, including helping patients understand statements and account balances. Explain basic insurance concepts such as deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and patient responsibility. Provide general education on in-network and out-of-network coverage. Confirm insurance information on file and assist with basic eligibility questions. Help patients understand where their accounts are within the billing process. Communicate billing-related updates provided by the Revenue Cycle team. Act as a liaison between patients, providers, billing specialists, and internal teams. Escalate complex billing or insurance concerns to the appropriate team. Provide warm handoffs with complete context to minimize patient frustration. Maintain accurate documentation of all patient interactions. Handle sensitive patient information with professionalism and confidentiality. Identify recurring patient concerns and share feedback that may improve the patient experience. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in medical billing, revenue cycle, healthcare administration, or a patient-facing role with direct exposure to billing or insurance processes. Familiarity with basic billing concepts like premiums, EOBs, deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and patient responsibility. Experience supporting or navigating patients with questions, escalations, insurance assistance, or billing-related questions. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to explain complex information in a simple, patient-friendly way. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate challenging conversations. Comfortable working across multiple systems and managing sensitive information. Ability to work independently in a remote environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a telehealth or virtual care setting. Demonstrated ability to build trust and navigate difficult conversations with patients or customers in a high-volume environment. Strong technical aptitude with the ability to quickly learn new systems, troubleshoot basic user issues, and navigate multiple platforms simultaneously. What Allara Offers 1099 Contractor role at $20/hr. Work Environment & Schedule 40 hours per week. Availability for one weekend day is required. This role will primarily support patients during Pacific Time operating hours. Fully remote within the United States.
