Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with sourcing, logistics, and cross-functional teams to address import issues and ensure compliant shipment execution.
  • Serve as the escalation point for distressed import shipments, conducting root cause analysis and implementing improvement plans.
  • Manage relationships with customs brokers, including responding to inquiries and ensuring timely clearance of shipments.
  • Collect, review, and validate import documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide analytical support for U.S. Customs and Border Protection requests and oversee post-entry compliance processes, including corrections and filings.
  • Verify classification, valuation, country of origin, and applicable duties to ensure accurate tariff assessment.
  • Support specialized import activities, including bonded shipments, free trade zone operations, and other non-standard transactions.
  • Collaborate with internal partners to meet data requirements for partner government agencies.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures for internal processes and external service providers.
  • Train internal stakeholders on import requirements and compliance standards.
  • Prepare and distribute import reports and performance metrics to support compliance monitoring and decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field required, or 3 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in import trade operations, compliance, supply chain, manufacturing, international logistics, or inventory management.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations and import compliance practices preferred.
  • Experience working with customs brokers or within an importer compliance function preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and support regulatory decision-making.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on tasks in a timely manner.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex import topics to non-specialists.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to learn and apply complex trade, logistics, and supply chain concepts.
  • U.S. Customs Broker License preferred.
