Department/Unit: Ultrasound Work Shift: Per Diem (United States of America) Salary Range: The Ultrasonographer under the direction of the Medical Director and/or Section Head, the Supervisor, and Radiologist performing ultrasound procedures assists in the clinical evaluation and care of the patients. The Ultrasonographer utilizes ultrasound to obtain diagnostic images and provide patients with a safe, positive, and inclusive experience. Technologists support teaching and continue learning as technology changes for both themselves and others. Ultrasonographers must be registered with the ARDMS. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintains competent high-quality imaging skills in practicing diagnostic medical ultrasound while striving to grow and develop, creating a professional and progressive imaging department with a positive atmosphere. Practices in compliance with hospital/departmental policy as well as New York State and accrediting agency standards. Provides a safe, positive, and inclusive experience for all patients. Assists physicians in all aspects of procedures in their assigned area, preparing a sterile field for ultrasound guided procedures of the liver, kidney, thyroid, lymph node, breast, and ovary, documenting diagnostic images pre, during and post procedures, including documentation of consent for procedure, time out procedure forms, and appropriate paperwork for cytology/histology. Actively supports AMCH and the Imaging Department in maintaining proper accreditations. Acts as a mentor and preceptor to new staff, students, and radiology residents. Aiding in the instruction and education of all parties. Expectations include on- call responsibilities, holidays, and rotation to satellite areas as assigned by Supervisor/Manager. QA's images and patient information for accuracy prior to sending to PACS, review of imaging and resolution of exam exceptions in iSite prior to review with radiologist. Other duties may be assigned. Qualifications Vocational School Diploma from an accredited school of diagnostic medical sonography - required No experience - required - required Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure/protocol manuals. (High proficiency) Ability to document required information/data on established forms. (High proficiency) Ability to communicate cooperatively and effectively to patients, family members, employees, and others. (High proficiency) Ability to listen well, take direction and to engage in interactive dialogues with others. Ability to seek out the input of others to achieve consensus. Ability to use College level algebra, statistics, physics and/or radiographic physics Ability to be punctual, honest, and to perform the job in adherence to the highest standards of ethical conduct as defined by AMC and the tenants of the profession. Ability to be accurate in such matters as data entry, exam documentation, and to use good judgment when performing the functions of the job or when interacting with others. Ability to accept direction, carry out orders, to work cooperatively with others and to avoid the creation of unnecessary conflict. Ability to adhere to AMC's policies, procedures, and practices, and to utilize AMC's problem-solving processes for resolving grievances or disagreements. Ability to anticipate and resolve potential problems to ensure the continuity of appropriate patient care. Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to improve job performance through continuing education.
