About the role

The Law Enforcement Operations Division is responsible for managing all aspects of LE/FAMS field operations, including budget allocations, personnel staffing levels, policy compliance, and training needs assessment decisions. Each field office is managed by a Supervisory Air Marshal in Charge (SAC) who provides overall supervision for Federal Air Marshals deployed on domestic and international flights and serving in ground-based assignments. To qualify for the SV-K Pay Band (equivalent to GS-15), you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the SV-J Pay Band or GS-14 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in state or local government or the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience is defined as: Demonstrated experience leading, developing, implementing, and administering comprehensive law enforcement and security management programs in a large geographically dispersed organization. Demonstrated experience collaboratively working across organizational lines in implementing law enforcement and security management programs. Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime. LAUTENBERG AMENDMENT: This position requires the incumbent to carry a firearm. Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition (Title 18, U.S.C., Section 922(g)(9)). A 'misdemeanor crime of domestic violence' is generally defined under the statue as any offense involving the use or attempted use of physical force, or the threatened use of a deadly weapon, committed by the defined in the statute, excludes any person whose conviction has been expunged, set aside, or pardoned, or any person whose civil rights have been restored unless the pardon, expungement or restoration of civil rights expressly prohibited the possession of firearms or ammunition. FIREARMS CERTIFICATION: This position requires the incumbent to carry a firearm. You must pass a certification at an interval required by the hiring/employing law enforcement component within TSA. Failure to do so will result in the revocation of firearm authorization and any other appropriate administrative action, up to and including removal. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
