Responsibilities

  • Lead EEDI governance - including guidelines for current and proposed programming, manage team operations, and strategic partnerships (e.g., external submissions, annual conferences, sponsorships, and memberships).
  • Translate EEDI strategy into a clear, prioritized roadmap with defined milestones, ownership and success metrics. Proactively identify, own and orchestrate change adoption efforts for key initiatives, ensuring alignment across functions.
  • Serve as a key liaison across Legal, Communications, Talent, and business functions to ensure integrated messaging and execution. Ensure EEDI work is represented across HR practices, programs and strategic initiatives.
  • Own functional communications, aligned with HR and Enterprise initiatives, embedding EEDI messaging across.
  • Partner with Corporate Affairs to own and evolve the EEDI narrative, ensuring consistent, compelling storytelling across internal and external channels. Partner with ERGs, councils, and internal communities to activate grassroots storytelling, highlighting the impact of EEDI globally and locally.
  • In partnership with internal data and organizational research teams, develop EEDI measurement strategy, ensuring strategy is data-driven and impact is quantifiable. External benchmark with other companies on how they are approaching EEDI data visibility.
  • Drive program management excellence, applying sprint based and PMO methodologies to keep EEDI strategic priorities and workstreams on track and on budget.
  • Lead end-to-end execution of communications and enablement initiatives, including project management and prioritization.
  • Establish workforce analysis, metrics and reporting mechanisms to track progress, measure impact, and inform continuous improvement.
  • Lead technology implementation for employee networks, including communications hub and membership portal, with an emphasis on how to better capture, dialogue with and engage AbbVie employees globally.
  • Required
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years of experience in HR, communications, strategy, or related field, managing sensitive data
  • 5+ years of experience managing teams
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-wide initiatives in a complex, global organization
  • Strong executive communication and storytelling capabilities
  • Proven ability to translate strategy into deliverable programs and measurable outcomes
  • Strategic thinking, connecting culture, talent, and business outcomes
  • Trusted advisor with strong influencing skills
  • Systems-oriented delivery with ability to manage complexity and scale impact
  • Skilled storyteller who makes strategy simple, relevant, and actionable

This role is highly collaborative - with partners across HR and AbbVie, shaping how EEDI strategy comes to life across the organization. The Director, EEDI Enablement serves as a trusted partner to senior leaders, HR, and cross-functional stakeholders-ensuring EEDI is embedded across the employee experience, leadership expectations, and enterprise communications. As a member of the EEDI leadership team, the Director, EEDI Enablement balances a long-term, strategic vision with strong operational delivery, setting the vision and strategy across a multi-year horizon and leading activation through functional enablement. This role leads EEDI strategy activation, functional communications, measurement, operational excellence, and governance.
