About the role
Avantor is looking for a Chemical Operator to pack bulk chemicals (acids, solvents, salts, blended solutions, etc.) into containers (drums, glass and poly bottles, buckets, etc.) by pouring, using pumps, weigh scales, and filling equipment. Additional tasks include, but are not limited to, labeling, torquing of closures, carton/case sealing, palletization, and maintaining accurate documentation.
Requirements
- Education: High School completion or equivalent (GED).
- Experience: 1 - 3 years of related experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably in a chemical plant or food and beverage industry.
- Preferred Qualification:
- Adhere to all safety precautions and PPE (personal protection equipment) requirements while completing the assigned duties in a safe manner.
- Demonstrated mechanical ability, basic math skills, and familiarity with RCRA and cGMP regulations.
- Experience in chemical handling, storage, and safety protocols.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem analysis skills.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), preferred.
- Critical decision-making skills, creativity, multi-tasking ability.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills including the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Forklift Experience is a plus.

- Completes documentation in a legible manner; verifies and reviews for accuracy.
- Maintains expected quality and quantity of work.
- Follows cGMP policies and procedures for handling, storage, packing, manufacturing, and distributing products.
- Supports co-workers in their job responsibilities and are expected to work as a team player.
- Good vision required for close-up and peripheral tasks.
- Monitors quality of products and raw materials.
- Communicates with colleagues within manufacturing to exchange information, providing explanations or interpretations as necessary to maintain alignment and efficiency.
