Clinical Director, Health Center - Baltimore City Health Department

Requirements

• On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
• Education: Have a master's degree in public health or nursing from an accredited college or university.
• AND
• Experience: Have five years of experience as a nurse practitioner in a health center including one year of supervisory experience in a multi-site health center program or comparable clinical program.
• Licenses, Registrations, and Certificates: Licensure as a registered nurse and certification as a pediatric or family Nurse Practitioner in Maryland are required at time of appointment.

• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of public health administration.
• Knowledge of clinical diagnostic, treatment, consultation and counseling principles and techniques.
• Knowledge of pediatric and adolescent primary care standards.
• Ability to direct and coordinate a large multi-school-based comprehensive student health program.
• Ability to develop clinical protocols, to evaluate programs and to interpret policies and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, health department officials and students and their parents.
• Ability to develop in-service training sessions and programs.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to prepare complex narrative and statistical reports.

• Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
• Probation
• All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
• Eligibility
• Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
