Position Summary: Mechanic 2nd class maintains and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, requiring skills in troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and operating mobile machinery. This role requires proficiency in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), completing work orders, ordering parts and services and tracking them. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Be able to step in and lead the mechanic shop in terms of work order prioritization and delegation, when the lead mechanic is absent. Provide necessary expertise on equipment repairs and reference O&M Manuals to support the Mechanical Maintenance shop with specific work orders Facility Subject Matter Expert (SME) with operating equipment in a Waste-to-Energy facility or similar industry including but not limited to, chain & flight conveyors, belt conveyors, hydraulic equipment, pneumatic equipment, overhead cranes, and various style pumps Proficient in welding practices and facility Subject Matter Expert (SME), including but not limited to; SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, Brazing and Soldering processes Anticipates typical problems, identify potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action. Troubleshoot equipment, diagnoses problems and repairs Proficient in operational knowledge of facility equipment and systems Performs preventive and repair maintenance procedures safely, environmentally compliant, and professionally with minimal supervision in accordance with Federal and State Regulations, and Company Work Rules, Policies and Procedures Assists in training other employees Directs those assigned to assist in the safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient completion of maintenance tasks Proficient knowledge, skills and abilities required to properly identify and safely and effectively use and maintain hand tools and portable power tools on a routine basis while performing maintenance tasks Identifies and effectively uses basic and precision measuring tools to calculate and determine lengths, surface areas, and volumes as necessary while performing maintenance tasks on a routine basis Assumes increased levels of responsibility when required or requested. Performs lesser skilled duties when required or requested Operate mobile equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment Use various Machine shop equipment such as a bandsaw, drill press, stationary grinder, parts washer, etc Ability to don all necessary PPE and safely work at heights, confined spaces, and other precarious places Work closely with PA to order, track and receive parts ordered for outages, projects and routine maintenance Individual must demonstrate proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software (Tabware) Available to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime Respond and report to work during off hours when emergency repairs are required and ability to be on call Ability to communicate effectively via radio using three-part communication Actively participate and support operations functions as necessary, including but not limited to internal equipment inspections, fire watch, cleaning of work area(s), etc. Works rotating shifts, if requested Job Qualifications Education: High school diploma or GED required Technical school or vocational training preferred Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in industrial or power plant maintenance (entry to mid-level experience) Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Ability to read and accurately record measurements Working knowledge of welding, soldering, brazing, and pipe fitting (may perform under guidance as needed) Ability to maintain a positive and professional work environment, collaborating effectively with coworkers, management, vendors, and customers
