Carnegie Mellon University is searching for a motivated Career Advisor to support students at the Integrated Innovation Institute (iii). This role will empower graduate students in the Master of Integrated Innovation for Products & Services (MIIPS) degrees, both online and in-person, by providing tailored support, resources, and strategies to achieve professional goals. MIIPS students bring a wide range of professional, academic, and cultural backgrounds, creating a dynamic and rewarding environment for career coaching and development. This position offers an opportunity to apply industry expertise and career counseling skills to engage with our talented and diverse students. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills, high attention to detail, and strong organizational skills to support a variety of student needs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building meaningful relationships with students, helping individuals navigate career decisions, and creating innovative programming. This role will report directly to the Associate Director of Corporate Outreach and New Engagement. Core Responsibilities: Career Advising and Student Support: Provide individualized career counseling and support to iii students through 1:1 appointments (in person and virtual), office hours, workshops, mock interviews, and resume reviews. Help students navigate career-related challenges, build confidence, develop professional skills, and make informed career decisions. Primarily support MIIPS graduate students, while providing supplemental support to iii alumni and students in the Engineering Design, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (EDIE) undergraduate program. Internship and Full-Time Employment: Guide students through internship and full-time job searches by developing effective search strategies, identifying opportunities, and navigating recruiting processes. Create and maintain resume books and share relevant job opportunities with students. Employer Engagement: Build relationships with employers, alumni, and industry partners to expand career opportunities for students. Collaborate with the Associate Director of Corporate Outreach & New Engagement on employer initiatives and facilitating site visits. Stay abreast of hiring and recruiting trends across relevant industries, including product management, innovation, design, and engineering. Career Programming and Resources: Design and deliver engaging workshops and career development programs on topics such as resume writing, networking, interviewing, offer negotiation, and job search strategies. Develop resources and materials tailored to the needs and interests of MIIPS students. Collaboration and Campus Partnerships: Serve as a liaison between students, employers, and campus partners, including the Career and Professional Development Center (CPDC) and Office of International Education (OIE), to enhance student career outcomes and experiences. Data Tracking and Reporting: Monitor and report employment outcomes, internships, and career development metrics. Maintain student career records, approve internships and work authorizations, and provide updates and insights to faculty and staff. Additional Contributions: Contribute to departmental initiatives, special projects, and other responsibilities that support the mission and goals of the Integrated Innovation Institute.
