About the role

St Catharine's College is seeking to recruit a Relief Porter to join our friendly Porters' Lodge team. This is a casual position and there will be a requirement to work nights, weekends and bank holidays, in some cases providing cover for absences at short notice, so flexibility is important. Key role responsibilities include: Receiving all callers to the Lodge; staff, Fellows, students, guests, and tourists, and responding to all enquiries quickly and efficiently Liaising with other departments, Fellows, students, conference guests, and visitors, in order to maintain high standards and to present a courteous and efficient hospitality service General administration and maintenance of Lodge registers, diaries and logs Using the computer systems to access conference Kinetics system to ensure visitor requests and bookings are correct Sort incoming and outgoing mail and distribute as required Controlling and recording issues, ensuring keys, etc. are stored securely Operating the intruder alarm system, securing buildings, and responding to any fire/intruder alarms in accordance with laid down procedures Monitoring CCTV cameras Carrying out Fire patrols and fire safety checks around College premises Investigating any fire alarms received, and inspecting the area for danger. Liaising with the Fire Service where required, and resetting systems as necessary. Monitoring the accident book and ensuring the desk diary is kept up to date Administering First Aid where required Supporting College expectations around student behaviour and welfare support, reporting issues to the appropriate responsible person Working arrangements and salary The hourly rate of pay for this role is £14.36 plus holiday pay. An enhanced DBS check is required for this post. Evidence of Right to Work must be provided.
