Our mission is to empower legal practitioners with AI-driven solutions that streamline their workflow, boost productivity, and provide more efficient client service. Our team of AI experts and engineers collaborate to develop intelligent software tailored to the unique needs of lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants. Our innovative AI solutions automate routine tasks, simplify document management, and enhance decision-making, allowing legal professionals to focus on what they do best-providing expert legal counsel. We're rapidly scaling from 80 to 150+ employees, with a highly technical workforce where around 90% of the team are developers and engineers. Working alongside our Sydney-based team of passionate high achievers, you'll join a fast-growing technology business where things rarely stay the same for long - and if you're smart, caring, and ambitious, you'll be in great company. What you'll do You'll be joining the Content Systems team, where we're building the legal data backbone that powers CORTO's AI driven products across law firms and legal-adjacent industries. You'll join a growing team as the first lawyer helping guide our AI content strategy by being the subject matter expert in the room. You'll own the accuracy and quality of our matter type content, draft templates and letters, and partner with our customers for feedback to continually improve the content generated by our AI machines. This role is ideal for a qualified lawyer who enjoys applying AI to real-world legal and commercial challenges, delivering clear and actionable recommendations, and contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team. To make this happen you will Own and maintain the Global Matter Types library - reviewing, configuring, and verifying matter type data, precedents, fields, and templates so they're accurate and ready for legal-adjacent audiences Write AI prompts and descriptions for each matter type, telling the system what to look for and how to present critical information to the end user Draft and refine legal templates and letters for use within LawY - from barrister file cover notes to correspondence templates - ensuring consistency and legal accuracy Demo LawY and the Global Matter Types system to legal-adjacent businesses - barristers, mediators, family professionals, corporate and general counsel - and convert their feedback into structured product requirements Sync with LEAP data on a regular basis - when matter types or precedents are updated upstream, verify the changes and update CORTO's version accordingly Work with the LawY sales team on warm leads - stepping in after handoff to demonstrate value and support client success Sit with the dev team to translate legal requirements into product specs, making the system more intuitive for legal professionals What you'll bring Admitted lawyer or legal practitioner with 3+ years of experience, ideally across 2-3 areas of law (family, corporate/commercial, dispute resolution, conveyancing - broad generalist preferred) Strong writing skills - you can draft a file cover note, a template letter, or an AI prompt with equal ease Comfortable translating between legal language and technical or product language Detail-oriented enough to spot when a matter type field is missing, incorrectly configured, or uses the wrong terminology Confident demonstrating software to new audiences and capturing structured, actionable feedback Prior legal tech or in-house experience is a bonus - a genuine interest in getting hands-on with AI is a must You are the type of person who Enjoys getting in a room (or on a call) with legal professionals to understand how they actually work - not just how they say they work Gets satisfaction from making something precise: the right field, the right prompt, the right template Can bridge a conversation between a developer and a barrister without losing either of them Is energised by being in early - when the product is still taking shape and your input actually changes it Thrives on variety: your week might include reviewing matter data, running a demo, drafting a letter template, and debriefing the dev team - and you're good with all of it CORTO is an inclusive, people-first company committed to breaking down institutional barriers that keep people from reaching their potential. If you meet some, but not all the requirements above, we encourage you to still submit your application. Why join CORTO? Your work matters. We solve real world problems that improve and support local, everyday law firms. So they can do their best work for the people in the communities they serve. Make an impact. You won't be another 'cog in the wheel' here. We give full trust and autonomy for you to be heard, to work on big & complex projects - and to make a real difference. Work with a group of authentic, passionate people who love what they do. Well-funded and
