Responsibilities

  • Course Preparation:
  • Assists in the identification, recruitment, and development of module faculty

  • Assists with local maintenance of Canvas to support current business owners, including ensuring module folders and the materials (schedule, pre-work, PowerPoint presentation slides, lead-up and follow-up letters) are made accessible each week.
  • Management:
  • Provides content guidance and oversight to 10KSB Business Advisors on program content and delivery.
  • Supervises and manages part-time faculty to ensure effective instructional delivery and consistency across program sessions.
  • Oversees faculty scheduling, communication, and delivery expectations
  • Facilitates growth groups, as needed.
  • Interview and Selection:
  • Assists in the review of applications and the interview of applicants for program participation, as needed (3 cohorts per year).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Bargaining Unit: No Goldman Sachs, 10,000 Small Businesses at LaGuardia Community College, is part of a $500 million investment to help small businesses in the United States create jobs and economic growth by providing entrepreneurs with practical business education, access to capital, and business support services. The program is based on the broadly held view of leading experts that greater access to this combination of education, capital, and support services best addresses barriers to growth. 10,000 Small Businesses is funded by Goldman Sachs and The Goldman Sachs Foundation. Business owners selected to participate in this intensive 3-4-month program will receive rigorous training on business fundamentals through a curriculum delivered by LaGuardia Community College in collaboration with some of the nation's top business schools and tailored to the practical needs of small firms. By the time business owners graduate from the program, they will have formulated their growth plans and be on track to expand and develop their businesses. Role Description: This is a part-time position of 21 hours per week at $62.27 per hour. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Lead Faculty is responsible for the consistent, high-fidelity delivery of the curriculum and for ensuring alignment between the curriculum and other key program components, including reviewing and interviewing potential program participants. The Lead Faculty supervises and manages part-time faculty to maintain instructional quality, continuity, and effective session delivery. The curriculum equips business owners with the skills, tools, and information needed to strengthen and grow their businesses. The Lead Faculty generally facilitates the following Modules: Orientation, Module 1, and Module 9, and opens and closes every module, clinic, and/or workshop. They will possess the ability to manage people in a fast-paced, growing environment and design effective programs to deliver for program participants. An integral component of the position is ensuring the curriculum, business services, networking, and mentoring components are comprehensive and enable small businesses to grow and lead to job creation. The Lead Faculty is a self-starter with the desire and ability to implement innovative methods for teaching small businesses how to expand. They will work closely and effectively with the Executive Director, along with administrators and educators at LaGuardia, and external partners, including Goldman Sachs, academic partners, and financial institutions. The Lead Faculty will be a skilled facilitator, problem solver, and effective collaborator.
