Work Arrangement This is an onsite position and may require up to 25% travel, within and outside the United States. Job Overview The Aeromechanical Engineer II is responsible for the design, test, build, and improvement of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), and their support equipment based on contractual or internal requirements. Essential Functions - Use Solidworks to design and modify parts and assemblies. - Create 2D drawings of parts and assemblies complete with bill of material (BOM) for internal or external fabrication and assembly. - Perform aerodynamic analysis and calculations to inform the design and predict the behavior of aircraft. - Conduct simulations, testing, and prototyping to validate designs and ensure they meet performance and safety requirements. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, electrical, software, and systems engineers, to integrate mechanical systems into larger aerospace systems. - Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for potential mechanical failures. - Maintain accurate documentation of designs, processes, and test results. - Design and oversee the manufacturing and assembly processes of mechanical components, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards. - Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Competencies - Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks or CATIA. - Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). - Strong knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and quality control procedures. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. - Familiarity with 3D printing technologies - Understanding of regulatory and industry standards, such as FAA regulations, AS9100, and ISO 9001 Education / Certifications - Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering or a related field. - Master's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering Engineering or a related field is preferred. - Solidworks Certified Professional in Mechanical Design (CSWP) is a plus.
