Additional Information

Start date: 1st September if the successful candidate can be made available by their current employer, or as soon as mutually agreed thereafter A rare and exciting opportunity to join the Leadership Team at Aurora Eccles School has arisen because, after four years of amazing work with us, our Deputy Head has secured her first headship at a Norfolk high school and will be leaving us in August. Aurora Eccles school is a caring community where relationships are the heart of all we do; in our 'serene' (ISI, 2024) school we provide fantastic education, care, and personal development opportunities to about 230 students, all of whom have an education, health, and care plan. Our students have wide ranging abilities (with Y11 outcomes from pre-entry level through to higher GCSE) and a variety of additional needs; our offer is class-based, and we are ambitious that all of our students will be able to work successfully alongside their peers. Some students work in nurture classes with the same teacher for most of the day, others have subject-specialists visit them throughout the day. Our mission is that our students should become 'Confident and Equipped for Success'. To this end, our comprehensive curriculum heavily references the national curriculum, with the addition of opportunities like Forest School and Life Skills for students to push beyond what they thought possible. We are members of The Independent Schools Association (ISA) and are proudly part of The Aurora Group, who specialise in the provision of specialist education. At Eccles, we are enthusiastically guided by our company values that we should be caring, ambitious, collaborative, trusting, and innovative. The successful candidate will have leadership experience at deputy or assistant head level or from a significant middle leadership role with whole school responsibilities. You might even be a serving headteacher looking for a different challenge. This role will include leadership of our four SENDCOs, so you will either hold a SENDCO qualification or have an excellent working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice. Whilst we are a secondary school, many of our team come to us having only worked in primary schools; our blended staff show that experience and knowledge can be successfully transferred between phases. An excellent communicator, you will understand the importance of caring yet unambiguous and timely communication.
