About the role

We're looking for a Unit Claims Manager, Subrogation , to join our growing team! As a Unit Claims Manager, you will manage the day-to-day operations of one of our Subrogation teams in our Mississauga office to achieve essential business goals and meet customer service expectations. You will lead a team of high performing and skilled Subrogation adjusters, who are responsible for the investigation, negotiation, and settlement of property and/or automobile physical damage subrogation claims. What you'll do here : - Manage the operations of a Subrogation team to achieve key business goals. - Provide leadership to the Unit. This includes communicating corporate philosophy, vision, and values; motivating staff to participate in Unit objectives; continuously keeping them informed of changes or new directions; and soliciting feedback regarding operations. Identify and coordinate assignments within the Unit. Provide guidance and feedback regarding performance. - Facilitate continuous learning and development. Prepare and discuss yearly performance reviews with unit staff members. Participate in salary administration process for employees in the unit. - Act in a consultative and advisory capacity on claims matters and technical issues such as liability determination, investigation, policy interpretation, settlement negotiation, and reserve establishment for Subrogation claims. Resolve complex claims related issues and/or escalate problems according to company policies. Ensure that corporate policies, claims standards, and procedures are followed. - Maintain effective communication channels with other departments. Liaise with other claims experts or management on technical and administrative issues. - Attend and participate in legislative/judicial hearings and alternate dispute resolution meetings. Authorize settlements of claims in accordance with authority limits. - Establish and maintain productive business relationships with vendors, service providers, and legal firms. Attend to their concerns and issues. - Monitor performance to ensure compliance with professional and corporate standards. Remain current with industry trends, technical developments, services, and products. - Identify improvement needs and recommend changes to policies and/or processes to improve business results and maintain competitiveness. - Audit staff files and provide feedback and/or training as determined by this exercise. Where required, establish controls based on audit findings. - Participate in the development and implementation of business plans for the Unit. - Develop, recommend, and implement management strategies, organizational structure, and process/technology improvement initiatives. What you bring to the table : - 5 years P+C claims experience within Subrogation, Property or Casualty, and/or 2 years of leadership experience. - Proven ability to lead, influence and to motivate and develop staff. - Leadership skills including ability to motivate and coach team members. - A sense of urgency in your
