Performs a variety of laboratory techniques independently and presents results. The Department of Chemical Biology and Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated and innovative scientist specialized in drug discovery to join our highly collaborative environment. The incumbent will be responsible for assay design, optimization, and validation using automation, execution of high-throughput small-molecule screening campaigns, and analysis of large, complex datasets to identify and prioritize hit compounds. Experience in both biochemical and cellular assays preferred. The candidate will work in collaboration with cross-functional teams, including biologists, computational and medicinal chemists. Projects will focus on advancing cutting-edge drug discovery programs for childhood catastrophic diseases using the latest approaches in proximity-based targeting. Specifically, based on the mechanistic basis of disease, our goal is to develop unique chemical approaches (protein degraders, synthetic gene regulators and/or functional effectors) to degrade or manipulate targets relevant to pediatric oncology, neurodegenerative disorders and sickle cell disease. Job Responsibilities: Design, develop, and optimize biochemical and cell-based high throughput screen-compatible assays for small molecule screening. Execute HTS campaigns and analyze large, complex datasets to identify and prioritize hit compounds. Collaborate with CBT Centers to progress validated hits through the drug discovery pipeline. Stay current on advancements in induced proximity and HTS methodologies, incorporating new tools and strategies where appropriate. Coordinates multiple aspects of research projects and carries out laboratory experiments utilizing various laboratory techniques, and determines whether additional or other tools or methods are required Provides input regarding research protocols and experiments. Sets up protocols and assists in developing new laboratory techniques as required. Identifies experimental data pertinent to the analysis problem. Processes, organizes and summarizes data, reporting these experimental results as required. Monitors quality and integrity of recorded information and data May draft sections of research manuscripts.
