About the Position: Incumbent serves as a Supervisory Police Officer (Watch Commander) for the Police/PM Division, Directorate of Emergency Services for US Army Garrison Dugway Proving Grounds at Dugway, Utah. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUES: This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights. This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Supervising law enforcement personnel by planning shift assignments to ensure policy compliance; (2) Developing law enforcement operational plans to support installation-wide security; (3) Conducting criminal investigations to secure evidence and apprehend violators; and (4) Evaluating police performance metrics to recommend shift operational improvements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accountability Managing Human Resources Oral Communication Security Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
