Lighting Technicians at SeaWorld San Antonio are responsible for daily show operations and ongoing installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of all Entertainment and Park wide technical systems as it relates to Entertainment. What you get to do: Support the Theatrical Services team through assistance on the install, strike, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of audio, video, and electronics; for shows, exhibits, attractions, and seasonal events. Assists with Install/Strike of lighting, audio, video, and electronic elements for shows, exhibits, attractions, and seasonal events Assists with maintenance of audio, video, and electronic elements for shows, exhibits, attractions, seasonal events, and other projects as assigned Opens and Closes the technical elements for rides, attractions, and shows, including parade floats Conducts safety inspections for entertainment elements in the park. Completes assigned projects with minimal supervision Responds to park trouble calls without assistance Set up and strike special events as assigned Uses acquired knowledge and experience to assist and train less experienced technicians Runs temporary power for seasonal events Programs and/or designs lighting without supervision Maintains a safe work environment and follows safe work practices Assist with rigging projects in park Uses acquired knowledge and experience to assist and develop less experienced technicians Other duties as assigned What it takes to succeed: 5+ years related experience in general troubleshooting and repair of audio, video, and electronic circuits, or devices. Associates degree, vocational training or technical trade school preferred. Proficient in project design and deployment for QSCDSP platform and PEAVY media matrix Proficient in design and construction of specialized audio systems for use in park Proficient in design and construction of electro-mechanical devices Knowledge of advanced digital projectors and projection mapping preferred Advanced knowledge of complex audio/video systems and equipment including: Understanding of signal flow, video switchers, audio mixers, show control systems, video surveillance systems, wireless microphones, and computer-based media equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex issues in audio, video, wireless microphone, show control, special effect systems, digital signal processing network. Replace and/or repair defective elements as necessary. Troubleshoot to component level and evaluate need to repair or replace. Ability to troubleshoot advance issues Ability to test wireless equipment performance using test equipment, make circuit board level repairs, coordinate outside service of wireless equipment when necessary. Ability to test primary function of show control systems, identify all faults and repair them if possible, and alter programming of show control system when required. Ability to test special effects, recognize faults and repair, reprogram, and/or replace when necessary. Rigging experience preferred Ability to select rigging gear such as: cables, pulleys, and winches according to load, weight and size for various park projects Ability to design and construct special effects elements Advanced lighting knowledge including - Hanging and focusing of lighting instruments and addressing fixtures Advanced understanding of signal/data flow for analog and digital controls Advanced knowledge and operational skills of theatrical lighting consoles from ETC and High End Advanced understanding of electrical theory including load calculations for various electrical services and loads Advanced lighting programming skills on theatrical lighting consoles from ETC or High End Lighting Design experience preferred Intermediate knowledge of the safe assembly of truss structures including freestanding structures and towers on ballasts Intermediate knowledge of IP and Network based Ability to design and fabricate custom electronic circuits and devices What else is important: Able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs. Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout entire work shift and climb/ascend heights, if needed Perform the following physical activities: kneeling, squatting, bend floor-to waist/waist-to-overhead, reach overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks (use of tools/keyboard/writing) Able to work indoors and outdoors, in varying weather, to include extreme heat.
