Essential Duties Sets up and/or oversees the setup of classroom lecture equipment prior to lectures. This includes physics demonstrations, computers, document cameras, overhead projectors, microphones, laser pointers, and anything else an instructor may require for lectures. Based on communication with instructors plans and allocates demonstration resources to meet the requirements of the instructors. Recommends, modifies, or purchases demonstration equipment to meet the requirement of presenting instructors. Supervises, schedules, and trains student workers in the basic setup of lecture equipment, safety procedures in the demonstration lab, and demonstration equipment maintenance. Maintain the lecture demonstrations, catalog and store demonstrations according to the PIRA Demonstration Bibliography, instruct professors in the proper and safe use of new demonstrations. Maintain a current and accurate demonstration inventory in the online database. Will be responsible for chemical and hazardous waste inventories and for maintaining university laboratory safety requirements in lecture areas. Inventories, orders and restocks supplies used by instructors during classroom presentations as needed. Will be the liaison between the department and university support when a problem arises in the classroom related to university equipment or environmental conditions. Prepares and coordinates department public event (Night of the Open Door), which included training the presenters, set up the demo program, works with the department to purchase materials for the event. Participates in collective PIRT projects such ad Freshman Welcome, Homecoming Red Carpet Day and etc. Works with SPS students to prepare demonstrations for outreach program, trains SPS students to present them. Works with the professors to prepare for an outreach events.
