Responsibilities

  • Work within Sky's Anti-Piracy team at the forefront of tackling digital piracy, one of the most significant threats to the UK's creative industries, supporting the protection of high-value content across TV, film and music.
  • Conduct advanced digital forensic and incident response (DFIR) activities, including the identification, acquisition, preservation and analysis of digital evidence from a range of sources such as endpoints, servers and network environments.
  • Support investigations to attribute piracy activity to specific individuals or organised groups, using a combination of forensic techniques.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners, and law enforcement where required, balancing technical investigation, legal considerations and operational priorities to deliver effective outcomes.
  • Contribute to the wider investigations function by documenting findings to evidential standards, producing clear reports, and supporting continuous improvement in DFIR capabilities, tools and methodologies within the Osterley-based team.

Requirements

  • At least three years' experience of digital forensic analysis of computers and mobile devices, within a public or private sector role. Cyber experience on top of these core requirements desirable.
  • EnCE, MCFE, Cellebrite, ACE, GNFA, GBFA, GCFE or other relevant industry standard certifications / qualifications.
  • Ability to work to ISO 17025 standards; experience of working in an accredited laboratory highly desirable.
  • Have excellent knowledge of digital hardware, experience in different file systems & operating system artefacts.
  • Must be able to work unsupervised and develop ad-hoc solutions to overcome operational issues when deployed independently on investigations.
  • Be meticulous, methodical, have a highly analytical and enquiring mind.
  • Excellent communication skills and able to convey complex technical issues to a lay audience in writing & verbally.
  • Knowledge of Criminal Justice system requirements and obligations under PACE, CPIA, DPA, RIPA, Fraud and Copyright Legislation, investigative and disclosure procedures, awareness of exhibit handling, statement writing and evidence continuity / rules.
  • Ability to effectively manage time, and individually prioritise multiple tasks of competing priority.
  • Consistently demonstrates personal integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Confident, assertive, and professional in dealing with business, industry and other key stakeholders whilst working with sensitive information.
  • Understanding or knowledge of Sky's products and services and an awareness of current and possible future business trends and their potential impact on the company.
  • Work independently yet effectively within a team of experienced professionals.
  • Essential Criteria
  • Proven experience using forensic tools and techniques to examine and evaluate digital or physical evidence in support of fraud, piracy, or internal investigations.
  • Demonstrable capability to conduct on-scene network forensics and forensic data captures.
  • Strong ability to produce clear, accurate investigation reports and formal statements suitable for criminal and civil proceedings.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 17025 standards, with experience supporting implementation and ongoing compliance.
  • Ability to carry out investigative tasks under direction, showing sound judgement and adherence to established forensic processes.
  • Evidence of building and maintaining effective working relationships with partner agencies and external organisations.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and maintaining up-to-date industry knowledge and training.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel across the UK, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland in support of operational and law enforcement activity.
