The Category Specialist is responsible for managing the full spectrum of the Procurement processes and activities, providing category management leadership, functional guidance, and coordination for all aspects of procurement to the International Fuel & Lubricants business in Australia. The scope of the Procurement categories includes both direct and indirect procurement, covering maintenance & repair, engineering works, capital projects, logistics, professional services, packaging, marketing, brand advertising, retail facilities technology and equipment, loyalty program and other general services. The role will require close collaboration and positive relationship building with management, business stakeholders, regional/local Procurement team and external vendors to deliver commercial value in support of Chevron's business objectives. The ideal candidate thinks strategically and collaborative but also work with significant autonomy; a strong individual who can drive category strategies and has proven track record of managing multiple initiatives and driving them to completion to meet business objectives; communicates effectively and strong ability to influence business stakeholders and suppliers at all levels and have a high level of customer focus and business judgement. This role will be based in Brisbane. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Manage a portfolio of assigned categories, which includes: Category analysis - conducts supply market analysis and market benchmarking Develop country annual contracting plan to align with business plan objectives. Regular engagement with stakeholders to review and prioritize projects Develop procurement strategies to execute sustainable cost savings for the business. Ensure that strategic sourcing principles are consistently used to drive best practices Sourcing and negotiation - utilizes strategic sourcing process and techniques to ensure competitive advantage. Leads negotiations or assists the lead negotiator in developing and applying appropriate negotiation strategies and tactics Write contracts. Implementation of agreements and integration of key suppliers - develops transition plans and oversees implementation of new agreements in conjunction with relevant business experts Supplier performance monitoring. Develop mechanism and metrics to hold suppliers accountable for performance and delivery Ongoing supplier and contract management - develops supplier relationships to ensure that cost reduction and value creation are ongoing activities. Utilizes strategic cost management tools and trend forecasts to assist in maximizing value of supplier relationships and contracts Set annual cost improvement targets and track results Provides functional guidance to the business stakeholders and drives P2P compliance Executing end-to-end procurement process in alignment and compliant with the company policies and procedures Acts as a procurement advisor providing category guidance and implementation of global/regional initiatives at a local level. Provide advice and consultation to business stakeholders on procurement and contract management policies. Provide P2P training and work closely with stakeholders to increase P2P fluency. Support Regional Category Managers in driving cost management opportunities and special projects for the business Work collaboratively as a business partner to explore and implement any cost savings and/or efficiency management opportunities Regularly communicates plans and progress to ensure alignment and influence the broad adoption of cost reduction strategies.
