Job Requisition ID: R00051209 Job Category: Nursing Organization: SOM-Neurosurgery RN Coordinator Location/s: Main Campus Jackson Job Title: RN Neurosurgery Coordinator - Neurosurgery Job Summary: To manage and coordinate the care of neurosurgical patients. These patients are very complex and need a case manager experienced in navigating the healthcare systems to ensure patient receive timely and appropriate care and follow up. Patients are typically surgical patients but can be medical as well. Education & Experience Five (5) years of case management, care coordination, or general RN experience, or three (3) years in Neuroscience/ICU. Outpatient management experience preferred. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Valid RN license Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Critical thinking, time management and organizational skill are essential. Ability to work and thrive as a key part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, with strong presentation and decision making skills. Knowledge of healthcare industry trends, medical procedures, patient assessment, and regulatory requirements. Written and oral communication is essential, the ability to present education materials to many types of audiences. Attention to details, effective communication and documentation with numerous physician, operating room (or), intensive care unit (ICU), emergency department (ED), radiology, pathology, oncology, and anesthesiology staff, insurance companies, other health facilities, the patient and patient family.
