About the role
The Financial Resources Specialist performs a variety of complex duties and assignments in support of the formulation, allocation, utilization, analysis, and reporting of financial resources necessary to accomplish the mission responsibilities of the state, area, and field offices of Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) for the Alabama State Office. Specialized Experience Requirement for the GS-12: To qualify for the GS-12 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. This experience must include at least one of the following: Projecting budget needs and potential budget surpluses, drafting budget plans, tracking expenditures, managing budget planning tools. Providing guidance and assistance in projecting, planning, allocating, and executing financial resources. Analyzing financial information to confirm proper execution of funds in accordance with applicable rules and regulations. Monitoring financial systems to ensure funds are properly allocated and obligated as apportioned in support of management objectives; and/or Coordinating internal controls processes and financial audit activities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade Requirement: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. You must meet this requirement by the closing date of this announcement.
