Farm Laborer 2

Responsibilities

• Supervision & Leadership (13-33%)
• Supervise one or more farm laborers and student employees in livestock care, crop production, and general farm tasks. May assist in maintaining security of residents or inmates, if applicable.
• Livestock Care (34-44%)
• Feed and care for cattle, swine, and/or poultry. Grind and prepare feed; breed heifers and sows; assist with farrowing. Administer treatments for parasites and other medical conditions.
• General Farm Labor (11-31%)
• Clean barns and outbuildings; clear brush and cut trees. Build fences, bale hay, and maintain farm infrastructure. Operate and maintain tractors, trucks, and other equipment.
• Crop Production (11-31%)
• Prepare soil, plant, fertilize, and harvest crops. Prune orchards and spray trees. Participate in the production, storage, and transportation of agricultural commodities.
• Required Qualifications
• Minimum education; High School Diploma or GED Experience: 100 hours of training in general farming or 1 month of equivalent experience. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Demonstrated general physical fitness. Skill in operating farm machinery.

Requirements

• Knowledge of agricultural practices and safety procedures. Experience supervising others in a farm setting. Familiarity with livestock breeding and crop management.
• Working Conditions
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions. May involve interaction with mental health patients or inmates in correctional facilities. Physical labor including lifting, bending, and operating heavy machinery.
• Salary Range: $15.75-19.69. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications
