Manufacturing Engineering Technician This role supports production and engineering groups with a strong emphasis on fabrication, machining, equipment builds, and hands‑on mechanical work. Shift: Monday - Thursday from 5:00 am to 3:30 pm (4 x 10hr. days) *Fridays Off with overtime available as needed. Compensation Range: $25 - $35/hour Primary Responsibilities New Equipment Builds & Retrofits Collaborate with engineers from concept through fabrication, assembly, testing, optimization, and production handoff. Assist with reverse‑engineering existing equipment and improving or updating components. Build and assemble mechanical, pneumatic, and structural systems. Perform MIG and TIG welding on fixtures, frames, and custom components. Assemble, fit, and align mechanical systems and guarding. Prepare equipment for shipment (skids, crates, bracing). Assist with moving, rigging, and positioning equipment throughout the facility. Fabrication & Machining Operate and support fabrication equipment, including: Laser cutting systems (setup, basic programming, verification). Press brake for bending/forming when required (not a sheet‑metal‑focused role). Manual mills and lathes; CNC/Prototrak experience preferred. Fabricate or modify components based on prints, sketches, or engineering direction. Ensure dimensional accuracy using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools. Lean / Cost-Out & Continuous Improvement Participate in lean events and improvement initiatives. Apply fabrication and mechanical skills to improve equipment uptime and production throughput. Help develop or improve fixtures, tooling, and workstations to reduce waste and increase efficiency. Maintenance & Production Support Assist Maintenance Department with mechanical troubleshooting, part fabrication, fixture repair, or equipment modifications. Support general tasks such as equipment staging, rigging, and shop improvements. Positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn. Able to accept constructive feedback and work effectively in a team. Innovative mindset with interest in continuous improvement. Self‑starter with strong organizational skills. Experience and Skill Required Minimum of 3 years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on fabrication experience. Proficiency with: Laser cutting or similar fabrication equipment. MIG welding (TIG helpful but not required). Mechanical assembly and troubleshooting. Manual machining (mill, lathe). Ability to read and interpret measuring instruments (tape measure, calipers, micrometers). Forklift experience. Valid driver's license. Rigging and equipment‑moving experience. Detail-oriented and organized. Preferred Experience and Skills TIG welding experience. CNC or Prototrak machining. Basic electrical familiarity (simple wiring of sensors/switches-not complex controls). Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, basic Excel). Basic CAD familiarity (SolidWorks preferred). Previous experience in fabrication or machining technician roles. Associate degree or technical training in machining, manufacturing, welding, or engineering technology. Physical Requirements Must be able to traverse the production facility. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at a time with assistance. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required to be worn during shift.
