As part of our activities in Bad Salzuflen Germany, Syngenta is looking for a: Research Associate Hybrid Wheat (f/m/d) Role purpose: The Wheat Research Associate assists and supports the Wheat Breeding Lead in all aspects of breeding pipeline progression - in the execution, implementation and management of breeding projects in the field and in the greenhouse, such as ( pre-) selections and crossbreeding trials Responsibilities/main tasks: Breeding program management: responsible for the technical organization of sowing, breeding field management, coordination of the harvest and sowing preparation Data and breeding material management: Recording and inputting breeding data, further development of breeding plant material from stage to stage including material management in planning, breeding and material tracking tools People management: Instruction and breeding support of the operational team as well as content training of the technical-operational as well as seasonal staff Finance/Budget: Works within the budget-driven framework of the breeding program with ensuring appropriate resource planning and allocation with a focus on an appropriate cost-of-good (CoG) level Work on conventional line material and later as part of a hybrid wheat program Operational tasks: Development of wheat varieties for the Continental Winter Zone EU with market opportunities according to the TPP Leverage internal and external R&D capabilities to support the breeding program with new and efficient technical innovations. Securing a seed pipeline in quantity and quality for efficient seed development and transfer to seed production, product evaluation, marketing and sales. Knowledge and experience expected: Master of Science (or equivalent) in Plant Breeding, Agronomy, Biology, or a related field. Deep knowledge of breeding methodologies, agronomy, and the winter wheat market/quality profiles. Extensive hands-on experience in managing both field and greenhouse trials, from setup to execution. Fluency in English and German (written/spoken) and the ability to collaborate effectively with regional teams and stakeholders. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using databases and MS Office for processing large datasets. Structured, independent, and stress-resistant work style with a focus on precision and priority setting.
