About the job Part Time: 0.6FTE (22.2) hours per week Interview Date: 4 August 2026 The Lecturer Integrated Foundation Year and Health vacancy is your chance to help students take confident first steps into degree-level study at the University of Northampton. Delivered across the University's full portfolio and organised into broad cognate subject groupings, the course combines academic skills development with subject-focused learning. In this post, you will deliver engaging teaching across the Health cognate area, support students as a personal tutor, and contribute to wider faculty and University activity. Designed for learners who may not have traditional entry qualifications, the Integrated Foundation Year builds the critical study skills and subject understanding students need to progress onto their chosen degree pathway, before moving into the standard degree course. You will be able to carry out your work in a way that best supports UON and our students, but also you as an individual. About you You will be a student-focused educator with strong, current knowledge and experience in Health-related disciplines, including Nursing and wider Allied Health Professions. You will bring significant experience supporting learners from diverse backgrounds and a proven commitment to helping students build confidence, academic skills and subject understanding so they can progress and succeed. We are looking to recruit someone who can: Demonstrate good subject knowledge and applied experience across health and/or nursing-related fields, with the ability to teach confidently at foundation level. Plan, design and deliver high-quality learning that integrates academic skills and health contexts (including evidence-informed practice and professional standards where appropriate). Engage and motivate students effectively, using inclusive approaches that support a wide range of entry points and learning needs. Use effective assessment, feedback and academic tutoring to develop students' confidence, academic integrity and readiness for degree-level study in health and nursing-related pathways. Contribute to programme development and wider faculty initiatives (e.g., employability, enterprise and social impact) that enhance the student experience in health. Work collegiately and flexibly as part of a team, with a clear commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in teaching and practice. Qualifications: Essential: Degree qualification or equivalent in relevant subject Professional Recognition as HEA Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale Desirable: Master's degree in relevant subject Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion Relevant professional qualification Faculty of Health, Sport & Behavioural Sciences: This post sits within the Faculty of Health, Sport and Behavioural Sciences (FHSBS) and contributes to a supportive, student-centred environment that helps learners build confidence, academic readiness and a clear sense of their degree direction. The Integrated Foundation Year (IFY) is a university-wide route into undergraduate study. Students enrol as an entry route to their chosen degree, progressing to Year 1 of the degree on successful completion. The IFY is delivered through faculty-aligned pathways and organised into cognate subject groupings that combine core academic and digital study skills with subject learning relevant to each pathway. £39,906 to £44,746 per annum (pro rota)
