Job Description: HUB International Limited, a North American leader in the insurance industry, is hiring an Accounting Manager. This is a newly created position designed to address rapid growth and the changing needs of the business. This position will focus on mitigating business risks by ensuring business units are in compliance with GAAP, corporate policies, contractual agreements, and external regulations. The Accounting Manager will work under the direction of the VP, Canada Divisional Controller. The high visibility position will work directly with internal and external auditors, and management teams across the company. The ideal candidate will be able to manage and accomplish the goals across multiple projects concurrently, have a strong desire to improve processes by leveraging data and information systems, and possess a sense of creativity and flexibility toward meeting objectives. Short-term goals: Improve and streamline current workflows across diverse business segments. System migrations, where applicable Build a cohesive team dynamic, ensuring there is adequate segregation, coverage, and support. Job Responsibilities: Manage and coordinate the various accounting teams across Canada. Manage and coordinate the month end deliverables, both locally and corporately. Manage, maintain, and implement internal and SOX controls. Coordinate with internal and external audit parties. Perform in-house reviews and audits to ensure the team is adhering to policy and procedure. Provide guidance to the members of the team and step in to help, as necessary. Liaise with our operations and executive management teams for finance-related inquiries. Maintain and distribute existing reporting and analysis as related to financial and operational metrics. Liaise between finance and operations concerning transaction processing in our Business Management System. Provide ad-hoc financial and operational analysis to support business decisions. Research, identify, and communicate key variances relating to financial and operational metrics. Improve upon existing and implement new reporting as requested. Manage any current and future mergers and acquisitions from a financial point. Implement procedural change to improve workflows and increase efficiency. Liaise with corporate finance to ensure we are compliant with all corporate requirements and requests. Various other assignments, as required Candidate Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA preferred. 5+ years of experience, experience with a nationally recognized public accounting or insurance brokerage firm is preferred. Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects both in a group and independently. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
