The work of this position involves occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours as events dictate, as well as being on call when urgent matters require communication assets. The Digital Content and Brand Manager report directly to this position. Duties may involve supervising office support personnel for specific time-bound projects. Essential Functions: Develops and implements strategic communications and marketing plans that support organizational goals, brand awareness, convention and event attraction, employee engagement, and public outreach. Leads internal communications initiatives, including employee newsletters, executive messaging, presentations, and recognition materials, to support organizational alignment, efficient dissemination of information and overall employee engagement. Directs media relations activities, including press releases, media advisories, interviews, press conferences, and responses to media inquiries. Advises executive leadership on messaging, public positioning, stakeholder engagement, employee communications, and crisis communications. Oversees development of print and digital communications materials, including presentations, bid books, newsletters, photography, videography, and other branded collateral. Coordinates communications related to major events, organizational initiatives, facility projects, emergencies, and operational incidents. Develops and maintains relationships with media, industry partners, public agencies, community organizations, and professional associations. Monitors emerging trends and best practices in communications, public relations, employee engagement, and destination marketing. Serves as staff liaison and primary communications contact for the Mayor's Office and City Council. Serves as the agency's Public Information Officer. MARKETING Oversees the Baltimore Convention Center brand and ensures consistency across all internal and external communications and marketing materials. Maintains and elevates the facility's industry profile through award submissions, media placements, advertorials, strategic announcements, and related promotional initiatives. Leads digital communications initiatives including website content, email marketing, social media, and related campaigns. Monitors and evaluates engagement performance metrics, audience engagement, media coverage, and campaign effectiveness. LEGISLATIVE & INDUSTRY AFFAIRS Attends meetings, hearings, press conferences, and other engagements on behalf of the organization and advises senior leadership on outcomes and implications. Collaborates with Visit Baltimore, the Maryland Department of Commerce, and other public-sector partners to coordinate and communicate legislative priorities. In the absence of executive leadership, serves as liaison and/or spokesperson for the Center at industry association and advocacy events. Assists in reviewing proposed legislation and developing organizational positions on matters impacting the Center or industry. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Represents the organization at industry, governmental, community, and stakeholder events and engagements as needed. Participates in City and industry communications committees, including Public Information Officer Association meetings and collaborative marketing initiatives. SENIOR MANAGEMENT Participates in senior leadership meetings and contributes to organizational strategy, priorities, and operational planning. Hires, trains, supervises, develops, and evaluates departmental staff.
