Responsibilities

  • Compliance Program Leadership
  • Build, operationalize, and continuously improve Vention's global compliance program, including policies, controls, training, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Lead compliance initiatives across key risk areas such as anti-bribery and anti-corruption, trade and export controls, sanctions, data protection, AI governance, and anti-money laundering, as applicable.
  • Establish risk-based compliance assessments, third-party due diligence processes, and internal escalation pathways.
  • Track regulatory developments across the U.S., Canada, and EMEA, and translate them into pragmatic, business-ready compliance requirements.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to embed compliance-by-design into business processes, product development, and go-to-market activities.
  • Commercial & Corporate Advisory
  • Provide legal advice on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters to support global business operations.
  • Review, draft and negotiate commercial contracts, including vendor agreements and strategic partnerships.
  • Support readiness for financing due diligence, corporate transactions, and board-level governance requirements.
  • Ethics, Training & Workplace Culture
  • Provide guidance on sensitive internal matters, partnering with HR on employment topics and code of conduct alignment.
  • Design and deliver scalable compliance and ethics training programs for leadership and employees to promote a culture of accountability, integrity, and proactive risk awareness.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor for whistleblower, conflicts of interest, and code of conduct matters.
  • You'll bring:
  • 5+ years of legal experience split between a top-tier law firm and/or an in-house legal department.
  • Demonstrated experience building, scaling, or managing compliance programs (e.g., anti-corruption, data protection, trade controls, ethics) in a multi-jurisdictional organization.
  • A strong background in general corporate law, commercial transactions, and regulatory matters.
  • Commercial experience is a strong asset-ideally within a fast-paced technology, manufacturing, or scaling enterprise environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of global compliance frameworks and the ability to translate regulatory complexity into practical business guidance.
  • Excellent business judgment and a demonstrated ability to balance legal risk with operational and commercial goals.
  • Member in good standing of the Barreau du Québec.

Additional Information

As a Sr Corporate Legal Counsel at Vention, you will serve as a strategic legal partner to the business as we mature into a larger, more complex, global organization. In this role, you will balance commercial agility with risk mitigation, advising on commercial transactions, guiding corporate governance, and designing scalable legal and compliance frameworks that support responsible growth across jurisdictions. Reporting to the General Counsel, you will partner closely with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Finance, HR, Engineering and Operations, in support of Vention's rapid business growth.
