Responsibilities

  • Safety, Quality and Environmental Compliance
  • Attend vessels regularly to verify compliance with the Company's Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) Management System.

  • Vessel Inspection and Audit
  • Conduct annual Internal Vessel Inspections for assigned vessels.
  • Carry out onboard Navigational Audits and safety inspections.
  • Verify the performance and effectiveness of Masters, Deck Officers and vessel personnel through onboard assessments.
  • Monitor and coordinate matters relating to Oil Major inspections and ensure timely closure of all observations.
  • Follow up on deficiencies raised during:
  • Internal Audits
  • External Audits
  • Flag State Inspections
  • Port State Control (PSC) Inspections
  • Oil Major Inspections
  • Marine Operations Support
  • Provide operational support and guidance to Masters and vessel personnel on navigation, cargo operations and safety matters.
  • Assist vessels in contingency planning and emergency preparedness.
  • Investigate marine incidents, accidents, near misses and casualties, and prepare reports with recommendations for corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support vessels in maintaining operational excellence and compliance with industry best practices.
  • Certification and Regulatory Compliance
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of statutory, classification and trading certificates for assigned vessels.
  • Monitor survey schedules and certification due dates to ensure timely renewal and compliance.
  • Liaise with Classification Societies, Flag Administrations, Port Authorities and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Crew Competency and Recruitment
  • Conduct interviews and assessments for Deck Officers and other marine personnel.
  • Provide recommendations on crew competency, training and development requirements.
  • Assist in the development of vessel personnel to meet Company and industry standards.
  • General
  • Attend vessels, meetings, inspections and audits as required.
  • Assist in any other duties or projects assigned by Management.

Requirements

  • Holder of a valid Master Mariner Certificate of Competency (CoC) or equivalent maritime qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of tanker operations, navigation, cargo handling, safety management systems and maritime regulations.
  • Previous sailing experience as a Master or Chief Officer onboard bunker tankers is mandatory.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant shore-based experience in a bunker tanker management company.
  • Experience in conducting vessel inspections, navigational audits, incident investigations and compliance management.
  • Familiarity with Oil Major requirements, ISM Code, ISPS Code, MLC 2006, MARPOL, SOLAS and Flag State requirements.
  • Experience in managing bunker tanker operations will be an added advantage.

  • Good analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills.
  • Willingness to travel and attend vessels as required.
